This is an action research that aims at understanding the working process of social mothers from the Four Leaf Clover Strategy in the municipality North of Ceará. Data collection was conducted through participant observation at the site of action of social mothers and implementation of semistructured interviews with these women. The interpretation of the information was related to Bardin’s content analysis, resulting in three categories: the task of being a social mother; social difficulties faced by mothers; and training for being a social mother. The educational activities were developed from Culture Circles, which allowed knowledge in order to qualify their work in the community, but they also allowed greater interaction, freedom and autonomy of participants to discuss relevant issues to their working process, making them key parts for the construction of common knowledge and making them agents of their own transformation.
