PERFIL DOS RECÉM-NASCIDOS INTERNADOS EM UMA UNIDADE DE TERAPIA INTENSIVA NEONATAL
Abstract
Currently, the survival rate of preterm and very low birth weight newborns has increased significantly. The progress of technology within neonatology is the main responsible for raising the survival rate of premature newborns, thus decreasing neonatal mortality rates. The present study aims to outline the profile of newborns (NBs) admitted to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The research is a documentary, retrospective study with a quantitative approach. The study was carried out in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit 2 sector, in a teaching hospital, in Sobral-Ce. The sample consisted of medical records of newborns admitted from January to December 2018 to the Neonatal ICU 2 of the hospital. 192 records of NBs were analyzed, of which 67 were excluded because they met the exclusion criteria, leaving 125 records that met the inclusion criteria. The results of the study indicated prevalence of male gender, birth weight between extremely low weight and very low weight, GA from 30 to 35 weeks. It is concluded that, knowing the characteristics of newborns, can contribute to create methods of prevention of risk pregnancy and premature birth, in addition to improving the care provided.
