MORTALIDADE POR ACIDENTES DE TRÂNSITO EM PICOS, PIAUÍ, BRASIL

To analyze the trend of mortality from traffic accidents in Picos-PI. Ecological study, time series in both sexes and in all age groups of residents in Picos-PI. Data were selected in DATASUS and analyzed according to polynomial regression. There were 355 deaths, 85.63% were male, the most prevalent age group was 20 to 29 years (34.65% of cases). The mortality trend from traffic accidents was increasing (r2 = 0.84; p <0.001), as well as in males (r2 = 0.88; p <0.001). There is no variation in age, trend reduction between 20-29 years (r2 = 0.70; p <0.001), 40-49 years (r2 = 0.52; p = 0.04), 50-59 years ( r 2 = 0.47; p = 0.04). It concluded that the tendency of mortality due to traffic accidents was increasing for males and for ages 20-29 years, 40-49 years and 50-59 years.
