The benefits that the practice of bodybuilding promotes during the pregnancy period
Abstract
The present work aims to present how the practice of bodybuilding is beneficial for pregnant women. The performance of physical exercises benefits pregnant women by mitigating mood swings and body discomfort. Studies indicate that active or sedentary pregnant women who practice weight training during the gestational period have benefits for both themselves and the fetus. In addition to being effective throughout pregnancy, weight training promotes better postpartum recovery, the baby is born healthier and within a few months the pregnant woman will be able to perform the exercises again with due care. This study presents the main exercises that the pregnant woman can perform according to her gestational period. In addition, it is important to emphasize that the pregnant woman must perform weight training accompanied by a Physical Education professional, as he is responsible for prescribing the exercises according to each gestational trimester. This study is based on an integrative review, the following databases used were: Lilacs, Scielo, Med Line, Capes Periodical and Google Scholar. Therefore, this study emphasizes that the practice of weight training is important in pregnancy, as there are still criticisms and negative opinions regarding weight training during pregnancy. However, studies claim that weight training is safe and conditions a healthier life for the pregnant woman and the baby.
