Abstract

The educational science laboratories, in both high school and college, do not have sufficient structure to conduct practical physics lessons. From this perspective, this paper presents the Tracker software as an alternative tool for data acquisition in physics didactic laboratories. It enables students to be central and active subjects of experimental practice by filming physical events for data collection and manipulation. Two experimental practices, the simple pendulum and the mass-spring system, were performed and filmed via cell phone. The videos were analyzed by the students of Professor Theolina de Muryllo Zacaz High School, where a questionnaire was applied to verify the learning. It was found that the Tracker is presented as an intensifying tool in the physics teaching, where the points that stand out in this aspect are the easy data acquisition, the simple handling, and the flexibility of use.
