The objective was to understand the prevention actions of Cervical Cancer in the context of the Family Health Strategy from the nurses' perception. This is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach, carried out in 2017 in a medium-sized municipality in the northern region of the state of Ceará, Brazil. To collect information, a semi-structured interview with 16 nurses was used in a space reserved for the health service to guarantee privacy. After the thematic analysis, four discursive categories were elaborated regarding the collaboration of community health agents to expand coverage, women's adherence to the preventive exam in the health service, the taboos still present faced for cancer prevention and results control prevention exams. There is a need for the health team to identify the population at greatest risk in their assigned area so that they can adopt effective measures according to the particularities of the community.
