Abstract

The human immunodeficiency virus or Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that causes the syndrome called: Human Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The main form of transmission of the virus is through unprotected sexual intercourse, and other forms of transmission occur through the sharing of perforating objects, such as needles and razors, blood transfusion, in addition to maternal infant transfer during the gestation period. Therefore, a systematic investigation of the literature was carried out, which sought data on the epidemiology of cases of HIV-infected pregnant women in Brazil, and the effects of the diagnosis in the period of pregnancy, taking into account the risk factors related to the life situation of these women. Through searches performed in PubMed and Scielo, using the appropriate descriptors: Epidemiology AND HIV AND Pregnant and inclusion and exclusion criteria about periods and individuals, and this way were found 11 articles about different Brazilian region being studied, sociodemographic factors may vary, although younger women point to a higher prevalence of HIV infection. Thus, it is worth emphasizing the importance of data collection in relation to women who test positive for HIV, and how external factors can interfere when this woman is pregnant.
