O INSTITUTO DO REFÚGIO: UMA PERSPECTIVA HISTÓRICA E CONCEITUAL

Abstract

The historical and conceptual bases of the refuge institute are presented, based on narrative-type bibliographic research. Initially, the timeline is traversed with a view to achieving rights for refugees. In this track, international and national facts are announced. It continues with a writing that aims to answer the question: what is a refugee? Concepts are presented. Then, refuge, asylum, forced migration and immigration are differentiated, given the conflict of understanding about these – sometimes used as synonyms. An important emphasis is placed on the types of refuges, analyzing refugees for reasons of race, nationality, religion, political opinion, certain social groups and environmental reasons.
