PERCEPTION OF NURSING STUDENTS ABOUT THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

Abstract

COVID-19 has enabled many changes in the academic routine of university students. Thus, the study aimed to evaluate the perception of nursing academics on the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an exploratory and descriptive study of quantitative approach, conducted with 95 nursing academics from Vale do Acaraú State University in October 2020. Data collection occurred through a Google Forms questionnaire. From the study, it was noticed that 51% have good family relationship, 53% have good internet access, 43.16% use the notebook for studies, 64.21% of academics feel very often concern about semester uncertainties . It was observed that 42.11% have difficulties in remote education, 87.37% missed academic practices very often and 69.47% said they missed leisure activities. It was evidenced that 42.11% have sometimes had excess tasks and online assessments; 33.68% of participants sometimes have nervous crisis, 28.42% feel very frequent excessive anxiety, 32.63% have difficulty maintaining a balanced diet, 28.42% experienced death of a family member and 70.53% a a friend. Considering changes in the lives of academics are noted, and it is necessary to strengthen interventions, in order to contribute to the reduction of harm in this pandemic period.
