CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES IN ENDODONTICS: STRATEGIES AND SOLUTIONS

Abstract

Endodontics faces intricate challenges that require a thorough analysis to identify tactics and resolutions capable of increasing the success and effectiveness of clinical procedures. The objective of this research was to analyze and understand the challenges faced by endodontics today, identifying opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of endodontic procedures. The specific objectives were: to investigate trends in endodontic procedures; identify challenges faced in endodontics by professionals; and, analyze the effectiveness of contemporary technologies and methodologies. The methodology used will be bibliographical research with a qualitative approach. Publications from the last 5 years were selected from the SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online), VHL (Virtual Health Library) and Google Scholar databases. Through these platforms, the use of the descriptors was defined: “Endodontics”; “Innovations in endodontics”; “Technologies and methodologies”. The inclusion criteria were: publications between 2018 and 2023; and, complete texts. The exclusion criteria were: discarding publications prior to the defined period; and, incomplete texts. The studies showed that contemporary challenges in endodontics are inherent to the dynamic evolution of the area. Given this context, it is essential that endodontics professionals are prepared to embrace change, incorporating innovations consciously and based on scientific evidence.
