EFFECTS OF AQUATIC PHYSIOTHERAPY FOR SLEEP QUALITY

Abstract

Introduction: Sleep is considered a complex physiological state that has influence of brain level, in a complete way but that depending on the different factors to which the individual is subjected, may suffer changes in behavioral and physiological processes. Water offers a medium with different energetically properties, of great physiological, mental satisfaction and anatomical composition. Thus, the aquatic physiotherapy can assist in the treatment of disorders. Objectives: Therefore, a systematic investigation of the literature was carried out to elucidate the functionalities of aquatic physiotherapy exercises as an influence on sleep quality, whether in children, youth, adults or the elderly.Methodology: Through

 

searches performed at PubMed and Scielo, using the appropriate descriptors and the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: 12 articles were found, where the authors highlighted the most prominent findings in each highlighted study. Conclusion: Thus, we highlight that all studies adopted, directly or indirectly, have an assertive connection regarding the benefits of using this area of physiotherapy to achieve quality of life, which is only possible when there is quality in the individual's sleep.
